next year I'll have completed my DELTA and have four years experience teaching adults and children. I want to teach for a year somewhere where there's good money (preferably not Asia) so I can save enough to return to the UK, set up here and be able to afford a Masters...is it possible!? where's the best place?

I will be graduating in May with a degree in Special Education. At some point I want to have 2 children, about 3 years apart. I don't want to work until both are preschool age, so that means I probably be taking a 6 year break from teaching full time. Should I start my family now and work on a masters over the next 6 years or should I teach for a few years first? Will it be difficult to get back into the field after taking that much time off?

It feels like, especially now with NCLB, that there is a lot of talk about the need to hold teachers "accountable." I know that there are some teachers out there who are not doing their jobs, but is it fair to put all of the blame on their shoulders? What about administrators, parents, the community, etc?

Also, do you think that standardized tests measure student acheivement accurately? I think that if we as teachers are doing our jobs, and are teaching to the standards of our fields, then our students should pass standardized tests if they really measure what students need to know. So why all this teaching to the tests?

I am currently going to college to be a highschool teacher. The other day a highschool student told me that teachers have nothing to do and do nothing all day. I find that odd since it is because of a teacher that he is even capable to put his words in sentence form. So I was wondering if someone could tell me what the world would be like without teachers? Would it be better or worst?

What is the best way to handle nasty teachers? I have a teacher who seems to hate me, and says I do bad work, but I don't! All of my classmates love my work, and some of the other teachers even think it's good, but this one teacher just doesn't like it! I don't know what to do. I do my best, but she never seems pleased. Any advice?

I work in financial services and I meet people all the time who have no clue as to how to manage money. Some people don't even know the BASICS. Am I alone in feeling this should be taught in all schools?

I think we should have a religious studies class in schools that is not specific to any one religion.
When I went to school, we were taught all about God & Jesus, and very little about any other religion.
Perhaps it should be left up to the parents to teach their children about their own religion, and schools should give them information about all religions. I think it would help to get rid of religious intolerance.

My child is in first grade. He has two different teachers every day. One in the morning and one in the afternoon. For example the morning teacher teaches math and religion the afternoon teacher teaches reading and writing. I do not like the inconsistency of two teachers at such an early grade. This would be fine in the later grades. Any opinions?

I'm a teacher and I want to change districts it's not that i'm totaly unhappy and can't bear staying at my school however I've got a bit of the grass is greener syndrome going on there are things that I clearly don't like and then there are things that i can tolerate but i don't want to be negative I'm not from the area (both my current location and the school I'm applying to) so I can't use the location thing as a reason I get paid well enough althought this other district pays better but my wanting to leave is not about money. I don't know how to put nicely I don't like some of the procedures(for both students and teachers) and other things. how do I put that nicely

I am trying to decide what to get my degree in. I am thinking about teaching and wondering what to expect (for my kids sake and daycare issues). What time of day do elementary school teachers finish work. Does it matter if it is younger grades versus older grade. Is it a family friendly occupation?

I'm an undergraduate in Texas, majoring in mathematics. My goal in life is to become a math teacher somewhere at a university or community college.

My questions include how do I get there, what states are best to work in, what are the chances of a small town boy like myself to get out of Texas!?

I've been thinking of NYC or NY itself. I'm tired of the damned heat down here.

Anywho, send me some answers!

I am looking for a database much like spassessment.com. I want to prestest students to find which educational standards students are not proficient. This is for a new company that will provide Supplemental Educational Services under the No Child Left Behind Act.
