Have them make christmas ornaments with a poem written by them on it, or a favorite family memory. paper, glue, markers, string, is all you need! Then they are getting in some writing and art time.
In fact, I am doing exactly that with my 10th grade students tomorrow!

Gingerbread houses?
A Christmas movie (Elf, It's a Wonderful Life, all those old claymation Christmas movies.)
Just a general party (but that's a bit late to organize)
It's the last school day of the year. Will your kids really be up to curriculum?

My sixth graders LOVE High School Musical. The Encore Version has a sing-along section that shows the text to the songs, and the students will actually sing along. Tall, lanky sixth grade boys, dancing and singing to the music...it's a sight to be seen! And, since we just worked on story elements, we are doing a story map and talking about the characters, setting, conflict, and theme. (Theme is difficult for kids, but High School Musical has a very concrete theme that is easy for kids to pick up.) Even better, it's not blatantly Christmas, so it works well for kids from diverse backgrounds.

My fourth graders have been working on main ideas and supporting details. We will be watching The Santa Clause, but any movie would work, and working more on those two topics. It should probably go along with some sort of writing, but I have a feeling it will turn into more of a conversation and writing on the board!

It depends...is it parochial school.... I goto Catholic school, and we just jave parties and order out and watch movies and bring in goodies. It is actually really fun, except today the one kid in my class gave us a restraunt's old menu and we were short the delivery guy 20 bucks....and then his excuse was he saw an 8 foot guy give him it saying it was the new menu..psh wat a liar... but here is some ideas: watch charlie brown's Christmas and maybe the kids can pick theyre favorite scene and draw a picture or make something outta candy canes....but i'd stick to a party or celebration

I played video quizzes set up in a game show format with my 6th grade students. Topic related and fun at the same time.
