The arrangement of desks and chairs is important to ANY classroom. The arrangement should allow for easy access to the instructor and materials, equal participation opportunity for members, and ability to implement behavior management.

In the ESL/EFL class, students may be grouped according to their language development, so the teacher can differentiate instruction and provide appropriate work.

You must set up your room so communication is easy. (I am a Spanish teacher). Put them in pairs facing eachother or make the whole class a big circle, etc. It is also important that they can see you speak...so they can see how the words are formed.
