I'm an ESL tutor. One of my students is the coordinator of English teachers in 70 schools in Mexico. She would like to set-up an all school skit competition. The problem is that there is no money to buy scripts, and the only free ones on the WWW have a religious theme. Can anyone offer suggestions? TIA

I really missed my teacher from back in High School. And i even can still go back to see him. But im kinda shy :). He knew how much i always liked him.. and now when i remember it was my last days of graduation, i wasnt even able to go say goodbye to him. And i should mention he was young. just couple of years older than me. He was teaching Lifeskills and journalism. I remember he would even miss all his lunch and stuff just to stay tutor me. Has done so much more than a usual teacher would do.He also knew that it was the course i wanted to major in..so did all his best to make me succeed and finish with a bronse medal.I want to go visit all my teachers, its been a year i graduated already, but can u please tell me how i go up to him and say hi. Or what should i tell him? why didnt i visit him the last days even though didnt have him the last semester. I mean i cant even explain how close i felt him. He was like a family member everytime id see his face. I really missed him! tnx 4 ans

I have a couple of years to go and I will be a certified elementary teacher. Problem is, I tend to get nervous speaking in front of a group (simple presentations for my college classes, for instance).

This problem has plagued me for many years and does not seem to be going away. It actually has me wondering if I have chosen the wrong profession for myself. I mean, who's ever heard of a teacher who is afraid to speak in front of a class??? Am I doomed for failure?

Any advice is welcome, especially from teachers who have faced this problem themselves. Thank you so much.

I'm on a bunch of education/teacher mailing lists. All the members do is talk about research findings on one method of teaching or another. Why have teachers lost the basic core of understanding what education is all about--mainly what is worth learning, and the differnce between education and training. The way the educators and educational researchers refer to students sounds more like they are training seals than educating human beings. Are people in education clueless or is it just that old adage, those who can do, those who can't teach?

Many high school students are pressured to go to college when it's not the best choice given their talent, career interest, and maturity level.

Sometimes college is actually NOT a good decision. (I speak from both personal experience and endless examples of successful people without college.)

Recently MOE rejects my application. They didn't tell me the reason, but I have a strong feeling it was because I'm a non local. If I take the risk to take a degree in Singapore, will it boosts my chance of getting accepted?
Any answer will be appreciated, and I hope someone from MOE will read this question :)

Does anyone know of any school in the EE.UU. (public or private) that offers sponsorship for foreign graduated teachers? Language teachers (Spanish - English). Specially in Texas and New York. Thank you in advance.

I'm a math tutor and have a very difficult client who cannot seem to do this at all. Worse yet, she's become very demanding, wanting to see me 6 hrs per week! Seeing her leaves me feeling very drained and irritable but I can't seem to say no and I don't have the heart to "fire" her as other tutors have done. (I've been tutoring over 30 years, have often taken on students other tutors have given up on, and have never given up on anyone!) She's a woman of "a certain age" and seems accustomed to having the men in her life do certain things for her, perhaps this is why she cannot seem to understand how to break up a process into steps and put them together.
Please help --
How do you help someone learn math (discreet math, a survey of advanced topics required of liberal arts majors( who cannot seem to anaylise and synthesiyse complex processes?
How do I set boundaries so that she doesn't make me sick?

I am an intern in a Kindergarten classroom. It is my 3rd week. There is no structure AT ALL. The kids choose their centers and switch whenever they want. I have been trying to give them structure by implementing new rules and strategies during centers, etc. I am really at a loss. It is a lower income school and there is not much support from parents. All of the class is very low and far behind. Many of them cannot write unless they are working one-on-one with a teacher. The kids bounce off the walls, do not listen, are loud in the hallway, etc. They do not listen to anything! I have tried being stern and consistent, calm, ignoring the behavior...I feel bad for the students that are making good choices because they cannot do anything fun because their classmtes can't even handle sitting quietly for less than 1 minute. There are 2 students in the class in particular that do nothing but cause chaos. We have practiced walking in the hall, sitting correctly, made up rules for the centers...

I was hoping someone with experience could give me an idea on what to charge as a Spanish tutor for a 6th grade student. I have seen rates anywhere from $20-65/hr. I have limited experience as a tutor, and while I am fluent (I use Spanish everyday for my job) I am not a native speaker, so I don't know what would be appropriate.
