I'm an ESL tutor. One of my students is the coordinator of English teachers in 70 schools in Mexico. She would like to set-up an all school skit competition. The problem is that there is no money to buy scripts, and the only free ones on the WWW have a religious theme. Can anyone offer suggestions? TIA

I forgot to mention that these are high school English classes. The skits should be 10 minutes long , more or less.

Aaron Shepard's Readers Theatre site has many nice scripts that would fit your time. And the last time I checked, there were quite a few available. (http://aaronshep.com/rt/RTE.html)

EducationWorld.com also has readers theatre scripts. http://www.education-world.com/a_curr/reading/index.shtml#theater

What is readers theatre? It is a way of performing a piece that doesn't require memorization or many props or scenery. It's becoming more and more popular in US schools as a way to help kids build fluency in their reading. If you try searching for readers theatre, you may find even more.

Good luck!
