I am currently going to college to be a highschool teacher. The other day a highschool student told me that teachers have nothing to do and do nothing all day. I find that odd since it is because of a teacher that he is even capable to put his words in sentence form. So I was wondering if someone could tell me what the world would be like without teachers? Would it be better or worst?

We would still be in the stone ages, never being tought the innovations of fellow cave men, and therefor we would never advance.

Man endeavors to better himself [herself ] and seeks out those of knowledge and know-how. With that simple bit of analytical thought: If teachers did not exist-- whatever name or word applied to the process of instruction-- the World would not exist.

Without instruction, learning would cease on any measurable scale. Without learning, progress would cease. Chaos would result in destruction. If graduates from Yale and West Point make such catastrophic blunders, imagine what would take place without educational systems, which would not exist without teachers.

Since Humanity has a propensity to instruct and learn, such a condition could not exist making the question irrelevent curiosity.

A 'teacher' in the broad sense would include parents, and life is a learning experience. Thus it would be impossible to have a world without teachers unless everyone stopped having children.

without...

doctors
lawyers
police officers
bankers
judges
engineers
nurses
astronomers
physists
airline pilots
soldiers
factory workers
etc
etc
etc

In fact I surmise that we would cease to exist as a species if new skills were not taught and passed down to the next generation.

You should tell that kid to try to do a teacher's job for one day, and do 20,000 things at one time.

We'd be nowhere. That kid was an idiot who probably was mad about exams or something. Without teachers we'd be, I dunno, cavemen or something. I've had some awesome teachers and I think it's pretty obvious that teachers don't just sit around all day... hahaha.
