When creating lesson plans can you teach whatever you want or are you given a rough guideline of what needs to be taught in that grade level for that subject?

Currently I am substitute teaching. Which is approximately 10 dollars an hour. The only problem is there are no benefits and some weeks I am getting 2 days some weeks 3. This week I have none Christmas vacation. It is very sporadic.
I am being offered a job as a preschool teacher in a daycare setting it is 11 dollars an hour with full benefits.
My ultimate goal is to teach in a school system. I have heard subbing is a good way to get in.
On one hand the money would be nice but on the other hand my ultimate goal is to be in the school system.
What should I do?

Does anyone know what salary range I would most likely be starting at? I am having trouble finding a breakdown of average starting teacher salaries by city in the state of Ohio. I have my B.A. in English Literature, my M.A. in English Literature, and I will be graduating with my M.Ed in Curriculum & Instruction with my State of Ohio Teaching License this coming May. I don't know if age makes a difference in hiring and pay decisions but I am 24. Concluding graduation I will have had an entire year of student teaching.

Between being a football coach, talking politics with young minds, weekends holidays and summers off, I think I might want to be a teacher. Nothing else has worked out so far ;)

I have an associates degree in Business Managment. What now?

Some people that post here seem to have really issues with teachers. As an education major, I've been taught that some students are angry with the system because of bad experiences. But, don't they understand that not all teachers are alike? In general, what do people perceive about teachers?

This is an example of the trick played by language on thought. Please try to give a thouhtfulresponse. You might with some luck stumble upon a very crucial, but elementary access to the theory of the structure of the world of numbers as we understand them. Please give it a try;good luck.

I was a teacher's aide for 4 years before resigning to get my BS in Early Childhood ed. I still substitute teach (for 2 years now), but it seems that I will have to student teach because I resigned. No Child Left Behind apparently will prevent me from being able to do an internship. (Must be highly qualified and certified.) Do I have any other options given my experience?

I like to hear from teachers who have experienced both US and other countries students. I know the teachers our district recruited from India and the Philippines are having hard times adjusting to the US student behaviors. I personally have had little behavior problems from my ESL students that just came to the US from Mexico, China, Africa, etc. compared to the numerous problems I've had with the US students (or even foreign student have have been here a while). I'm trying to figure out if or why there is a difference in behaviors?

Hello, I just transferred to a new school. While I love the administration, the staff is very cold to me. It is a young staff whereas my old staff was much older than me. They do not say hello to me, even though I stop &make eye contact with them and say hello first. Some have even gone as far as to turn around when I speak to them. They also have made fun of me basically to my face regarding what I am wearing ( I am a fashionable dresser & they wear mostly jeans &tee shirts--don't know why--one did get marked on her evaluation). They have gossiped about me to students and even attempted to report me to the office for "allowing" my students to roam the halls and set the bathrooms on fire. Completely false--the bathrooms weren't even set on fire. Granted the whole staff isn't like this--just a few, but they drive me nuts. I do have quite a few friends there, I just hate feeling like I am in middle school rather than teaching there.

I've decided I want to become a teacher, which I didn't clearly ask the correct question to, so here it goes: My scenario begins that I am a college junior upon the arrival of what would be considered my "specialized" classes (I.E. Major). I have no idea what I really want to teach, because I made alright marks (-A) in most of my classes (ranging from Comp/Anatomy and Physio/College Algebra). I understand that Math/Science is in demand. Some of my friends say that it would be more rewarding to me to major in English. My mother and father say that I would do great in Science. I tutored several classmates in Coll. Algebra and they said I would do great at that.

Any suggestions?
