Some people that post here seem to have really issues with teachers. As an education major, I've been taught that some students are angry with the system because of bad experiences. But, don't they understand that not all teachers are alike? In general, what do people perceive about teachers?

My mother is a teacher so....she says she is going to retire this year lets see if she does lol!

I find some teachers are good and want to teach. Other teachers think they are there for some kind of money, which as we know there is no money in teaching. I also feel that some teachers are burned out and need to get on with life.
I personally would have problems working in todays public schools. My mother sent us to public but would be open to view her opinion on working at one, she said she would NEVER work at a public school.
With the laws today and all the rules today regarding kids geesh.... I do not like the middle school, we have one here. The teachers are afraid of the kids and the parents. Most of them are out of stater's who for some unknown reason moved to our little town thinking I guess they were going hiking and camping in the summer and found out there is not enough money saved up.
We also have a very large reservation who's kids come to school. So there is culture these out of stater's have to get used to too.
Anyhoo my two cents...

My mothers are teachers (yea mommies!) lol. Anywho, teachers are people with there own stress levels, their own tolerences for anger etc. The worst teacher I had in high school was Mrs thompson at Decatur High School in Alabama, the best teacher I ever had was Mr Fitzpatrick. They both had the same level of education but they both taught diffrent ways. Mr Fitzpatrick was a hands-on teacher whereas Mrs Thompson was a drilling teacher. I think high schoolers should have there option of choosing teachers while in school.

My mother was a teacher, but I never heard her talk about angry children, only cut up's and goof off's. I think teacher's make a great sacrifice for their chosen profession, and are under appreciated. Many parents only seem to view school a learning babysitter institution.

Good observation. Don't stereotype because of a few bad eggs.
