Sometimes they do it right at the school. You can ask them (board of education). Mostly though they do it at any police station. In my city it was $5.00, but if you go to the city where you will be employed then you will be considered a city employee and it may be free.
It can be an interesting experience. The cop locks up his gun so that you cannot wrestle it away from him! As I was entering the fingerprinting area the cop said to me "Ma'am back away please. STEP BACK. There is a CRIMINAL in the holding area. STEP BACK. I looked and there was a kid; probably the same age as the kids I was about to start teaching!
Anyway, good luck. It really is not that big a deal and you do not have to call. Just stop in at any police station and ask to have your fingerprints done. You will need cash. Take $20.00 at least in case the cost differes.
