More and more, people use YOUR for the contraction YOU'RE (you are). They put an apostrophe on plurals (All those dog's are barking). They improperly say "I told you NOT to do that" (means 'I told you not', which means 'I didn't tell you') instead of "I told you TO not do that" (specifically said it). Oh, heck; I could go on forever on this one...
Are people getting stupid, or what's the problem? Poor schooling???

I'm trying to set some goals for myself but i'm not sure what most universities consider a 'good' average...is there any certian percentage I should be aiming to get. I know it varies from school to school but I just need to know in general? Like 70%'s, 80%'s, 90%'s. It probably depends on what you want to be also, i'm not exactly sure but maybe a doctor if that helps.

I've graduated from the Philippines and as some may know, Phils education system is quite different from others. In the Phils. High School is only up till 11 years, then you enter Uni. In other countries (particularly USA, where I am in now).. You can only enter Uni when you've completed 12 years of High School. If my diploma only shows 11 years, do you think I can get accepted? If so, how? Has anyone else had this experience?

On the other hand, I also completed SAT and TOEFL tests (pass them both), will that work as a bonus maybe?

Cheers everyone.

In my country, when students are disrespectful, we cane the palms of their hands or soles of their feet with a small diameter cane. For more serious offenses, we slap their bare buttocks with a cricket bat until there is noticeable bleeding or blistering.

Now that I have been recruited to teach in America, they tell me I cannot do such things, but must instead pass out pieces of candy when children are good as if they were seals or dogs doing tricks. Are there no other ways to make the children of this country obey?

Perhaps not since many of my American students are fat enough to feed a whole village in my country.

I love my school that I am in right now. I love school, which is a big thing. I don't want that to change if I go to a new school. The school I am in now is not the best school by far but I love it. I understand that my parents don't like it there and thats why I agreed to go somewhere else. But i think about that desicon all time! Do i go where my head is telling me to go for the better education, or where my heart is telling my to go for the love of school?

I'm 15 yrs old from the U.S. and aspiring to be an Airline pilot

Method: (If it is even logical)

1. Finish High school with good grades

2. Go to any University and get a Major in anything (if there is a recommended course please advise)

3. At 23 yrs old or so go to the USAF and apply for OTS and then UPT

4. If successful, stay with USAF for 10 years

5. Get out of the air force and apply straight to the top "Major" Airlines (not the regional airlines)

^^^^^ is that a possible route...or is there a better route ?

at this school I have had a lot of trouble doing well, partly because it is a transition between public school to private school, more work, and I had so many after school comitments that once istarted, I couldn't end. I started getting many c's the ocasional B, and scattered D's and F's on test, A's only on quizzes. I just got a D on one of my final exams. So was this the right choice? or should i move?

Well on Saturdays, I help tutor. But I go to a Catholic school, and a rule they put in for tutors is they must come to school in their uniform, even on the weekends. There are different shifts. The shift I go to is from 1-3 and 4-6. So at 6, me and my friend were done for the day. We decided to play in the gym. We tried to play basketball (it's kind of hard in your school uniform) so then we went out to the playground to relax. We were too lazy to go out anywhere, or go home yet. So it's 7:45 PM now and way past our shift. We we're going to go home, but he had to get some stuff from our lockers. Our lockers are in different halls. We were the only people in the halls (as the rest were tutoring). So I got my stuff and am about to leave when the principal calls my name. He tells me to tuck in my shirt and that I have a detention for a uniform violation. Can he do this on a non-school day way past school hours (and my shift)? Is this right?

Well a while ago, my mom said she'd stop waking me up for school, I had my own responsibilities. I was fine with that and started using my alarm clock. A couple weeks in, I guess I must have pressed the snooze too many times because I looked at the clock and it was 8:21 (my school starts at 7:45). So I knew I was late, but I figured, if I'm 5 minutes late or 95 minutes late, I'm still late. So I still did my regular morning routine (shower, put on my uniform, eat, etc). By the time I was done, it was about 8:53. My parents were at work and the buses were long gone, so I walked to school. I turned a couple streets too late, so I missed the school. After going through the neighborhood I accidentally entered, I realized, I was lost. I figured to just keep walking and I'd find it eventually. I'm walking and a loud noise scares me. It's a cop siren. He comes out and is all mean to me. He asked where I was headed off too. I told him school. Then he asked me why I was walking this
