Long story. Here's a short version. My parents arranged me to live with my friend because its close to a really good school, so I lived there for approximately a month, and transferred from my old school to the new one. My parents got into a dispute with my friend's parents and told me I couldn't rent anymore. I was withdrawn during finals week because I did not have residency proof, so the SCHOOL withdrawed me. And no schools would take me in because there are no enrollment allowed during finals week. I helped my parents with their job from then on and I went to check with the district, and I had no credits whatsoever for 11th grade. And if I go to a regular highschool I would have to take it over, and someone recommended alternative school. Would it help me graduate on time? I was SET to graduate on 2008. And I don't want to be held back another year. What should I do? Is alternative school a right choice? It supposedly helps kids that are behind.

here's some problems that me and most of my friends share:

the teacher's are mean and useless! they only make us respect them because of the scores, in fact they are boring and evil!!!
we won't be graduated if we fail more than 3 subjects, but the questions they gave us in the tests are insane!!!
the school system doesn't support us from graduating, it looks more like they want us to fail!!

what should me and my friends do to handle this school, and what to do if we don't graduate?? pls help...

Well I'm a junior and I've been getting some college mail. Well before I know I even get it my stepmom opens and reads everybit of it.

I got a letter from this one college(which isn't atop of my list) and before I even get to read it my dad tells me to just throw it away cuz I'm not allowed to go there! Also THE college I most want to go to, Morehead State University, he says that I'm also no allowed to go there either!

I can already tell you that even if I get the slightest chance to go to Morehead State then thats where I'm going regardless of what he says.

What should I do? I'll be 18 in a year so can they even tell me where I'm allowed and not allowed to go to college? I think its some bullshit if you ask me!

well i came to US 4 years ago and learned english perfectly in 1 year
i have to accent and no one even knows that i wasnt born here
so i turned in this essay, a rough draft, and as she was going over it, she asked me if english was me second language
so i said yes, and she told me she could tell and then listed all of the errors i've made.
she said this while other students were listening, and i know i should have stood up for myself, but i just said okay
what angers me is the fact that i can write better than half the class. i mean after all, i'm going to attend a private school, so i took an entrance exam which was looking at a poem and analyzing the poem in an assay
i was excepted into english honors
so if what she is sayig is true, that i don't write well and c onfuse verb tences, why the hell would i get into honors in a PRIVATE school
i am going to tell my mom, but what is your advice as to how i should handle this
thank youuuuz

Creationism is not science, meaning it is not subject to falsification, and has no more evidence than what is written in the Bible.

Presenting kids with both ideas (evolution and creationism) implies that both are equally valid!!!, when in fact this is NOT the case.

Evolution is much harder to comprehend than creationism, and unfortunately Americans want something they can easily believe, and too often let their religious views get in the way of doing what is right.

The fact that this debate still continues is ridiculous. Creationism encourages the Christian faith over other religions, which is not only ignorant to others' beliefs, but violates the separation of Church and State.

Therefore many Christians changed it to "Intelligent Design", which is still pseudoscience with no evidence other than trying to find flaws in the evolutionary theory. However, disproving one doesn't make the other right.

Please tell me why you think creationism should be taught (if you do).

What did a cute little 5 year old PK/Kstudent do that deserves a Graduation? Can they get a job with that PK certificate? A "Promotion" or "Ceremony" would be more appropriate. Many students have "graduated" 3 or 4 times before the 12th Grade Graduation. Way too many students are not making it . Once they finish middle school, the children are not finishing or particpating in the Graduation the actually counts!! That job application or your resume reflects the year of High School graduation (not 3rd, 5th, 6th, 8th, or even 9th).

I'm 14 and I'm going to start my first year in high school next week and I need some tips on being able to manage my time. I had sort of a hard time during my previous years in school because I live quite far from my school. It takes an hour from my house to get there [without traffic]. I ride a bus going to school and back home because my mom can't bring me and fetch me to school. She's busy with her work. [she's a doctor.] My parents are separated so my dad can't help.

I leave my house at around 5:15 AM and get to school by 6:30 AM. My classes start at 7AM and end at around 4:30PM. My school bus leaves my school at 5PM and I get home at around 6:30-7:00PM. I've been complaining to my mom about this because I want to be able to do my homework and be able to get enough sleep.

I remember when I was in seventh grade I only got around 6-7 hours of sleep because of this. Can anyone help me manage my time?

I mean, nerds always get rejected by the popular kids. Nerds are smart, charming, funny and awesome if you get the chance to know them a little better, sure they're weird, but everybody is weird as well, so you shouldn't be dissing a nerd by its look. We should be equal, not labelled.

Our town's elementary school district School Board meeting is tomorrow night. The agenda includes making a decision on maximum class size for the K-6 schools in the district. Currently, they are considering a class size of 32, before splitting the class and hiring another teacher. Most of us parents, of course, would prefer smaller class sizes.

While we appreciate budgetary concerns, we don't want to compromise our child's educational opportunities, either. As, I'm sure, the school board understands and, probably, agrees. Our district currently does not provide teacher's aides, unless there is a special needs child in the classroom (no matter what the class size).

Is there any research out there that studies the optimal class size? Is there a certain class size beyond which learning is, usually, seriously impaired?

What is your personal experience with having your children in large classes versus small classes?

I love how high school teachers lose their student's work and then try to say that the student(s) never handed in the assignment.

This is what is happening to me right now, and I am the top student in my class too; hordes of high school teachers seem to dislike the idea of admitting that they lost your work.

Has this ever happened to anyone?

Tell me your story!
