well i came to US 4 years ago and learned english perfectly in 1 year
i have to accent and no one even knows that i wasnt born here
so i turned in this essay, a rough draft, and as she was going over it, she asked me if english was me second language
so i said yes, and she told me she could tell and then listed all of the errors i've made.
she said this while other students were listening, and i know i should have stood up for myself, but i just said okay
what angers me is the fact that i can write better than half the class. i mean after all, i'm going to attend a private school, so i took an entrance exam which was looking at a poem and analyzing the poem in an assay
i was excepted into english honors
so if what she is sayig is true, that i don't write well and c onfuse verb tences, why the hell would i get into honors in a PRIVATE school
i am going to tell my mom, but what is your advice as to how i should handle this
thank youuuuz

okay so you tell me, whos a better teacher, some publc school teacher, or a teacher in a school that takes 10,000 a year to attend. if she's such a good teacher, than why doesnt she work in a private school. and so what if i WAS born here, would she ask if i'm STUPID? hahah, this is rediculous.

I don't mean to be harsh, but you need a serious wake-up call. You sound very immature, ignorant, and stuck up. Going to a private school doesn't mean you are smarter than someone who goes to a public school, it usually just means that your parents have the money to pay for it. And teaching at a private school does not make you a better teacher than someone who teaches at a public school. There are a lot more public schools than private, therefore there are more opportunities to teach in a public school. Your teacher may have also chose to work at that school for some personal reason. Most teachers don't get into the profession for money or prestige.
She was trying to HELP you. You have convinced yourself that you are so perfect, but judging from your spelling and grammatical errors here, you are not. Also, many people who learn English as a second language do have trouble with verb tenses; that is one of the hardest parts about learning English. You should just get off your high horse and accept the constructive criticism so that you can improve and really be as good as you think you are. And by the way, everyone who gets accepted into an Honors course isn't perfect. No one is perfect. Maybe your pride was just hurt because she said it in front of your classmates, and if she really did that, I agree with you and I don't think that was right. But you should just calm down, work harder and prove her wrong.

Yes, you could have a few problems with getting verb tenses correct and using the right idioms, among other errors, and still be accepted into honors English. Making a few errors in your English doesn't mean you cannot write a well-defended argument or a great paper. I'm sure you still write excellent content, even if there are a couple of mistakes in grammar. If someone can still understand the ideas you have written, then you are still a good writer.
I would go tell the teacher privately that you were offended and embarrassed by the fact that she would single you out in front of the class and that you hope you will be treated better in the future. Do mention that you understand that you needed to be corrected, just not in front of the whole class; otherwise, you might sound like you are just criticizing her, and she won't listen. The woman's comments are valid, but you shouldn't be singled out and embarrassed because of them. Meanwhile, she did correct your errors. Learn from these corrections so that you don't make those errors again.
Just because a school is private doesn't mean the school is harder than a public school. Maybe your private school is, but you would have to research that yourself.

Well, let me start by saying that you should be commended on your accomplishments so far. Getting into honors English and into a private school shows you have ability. However, I can tell from the way you wrote your question that your spelling stinks! Furthermore, you know nothing of capitalization and punctuation. If I were your teacher, I would tell you these things, not to insult you, but to let you know how you can improve. Don't you want to improve????? Teachers exist in order to help students ... we don't always have time to talk to kids in private, so when your teacher spoke to you with others around, believe me, she wasn't trying to hurt your feelings. The fact that she works in a public school rather than a private school means NOTHING AT ALL. If you want to tell your mom, go ahead, but it will only make you look even more foolish. Go apologize to your teacher.

Ok, ur being paranoid here. Ur teacher isn't trying to insult u. She's trying to correct ur mistakes. Being able to speak English fluently in a year and taking honors english at a private school is a good thing, but that doesn't make you perfect. No one is. If you look around, plenty of your classmates in that class also has some minor grammatical errors. Just take this as constructive criticism and improve yourself with it.

As you comprehend, enigmatic in basic terms potential that some thing is tough or mysterious. in many situations the term isn't used as an insult, in fact, while a guy says it to a girl it extremely is often linked with prepared to earnings extra approximately her and delivered as a compliment. even regardless of the undeniable fact that, if it is describing a checklist or homework, it may point out which you haven't any longer thoroughly spoke back the main considerable questions; it is, after all, the point of a checklist. while writing a checklist one in many situations intends to respond to the suitable question, in hopes of the two relaxing the interest of the reader or offering sufficient information with regard to the subject to pique the activity. reckoning on the character of the checklist, you have happy the requirement to pique the activity, and if so, it can be a compliment to be observed as "enigmatic". even regardless of the undeniable fact that, if the point of the checklist replaced into as an occasion your know-how of the subject, then being enigmatic won't have been a solid element. It sounds like you have faith in your own abilities, and that's the most important thing. You should be mad about something like that, but you shouldn't let it get you down.
I had an English teacher in high school accuse me of plagiarizing a book report because I used the word "apocalyptic" and she said it wasn't "at my level." It infuriated me enough to become a better writer.
My advice is to take lemons and make lemonade.

If the teacher is correct about the errors, consider it constructive criticism. Many people can't write, including myself. Use this as a lesson to improve.

You said that no one knew that you weren't born in the US, right? So why would she think so? Probably based on your writing/speaking. You definately don't have the expertise to decide wether you speak english well or not. I would calm down, and take her advice. She's a teacher, thats her job.
just read your additional info: My conclusion is that you're a SNOB! Get over yourself!

So, what's your problem? English IS your second language and you must have said or written something that indicated this fact to the teacher. She was doing her job by correcting your errors. Personally, I think you should apologize to your teacher for your attitude. You sound like a spoiled brat to me and I'm sure my friends will agree. Or most of them, anyway.
