In my country, when students are disrespectful, we cane the palms of their hands or soles of their feet with a small diameter cane. For more serious offenses, we slap their bare buttocks with a cricket bat until there is noticeable bleeding or blistering.

Now that I have been recruited to teach in America, they tell me I cannot do such things, but must instead pass out pieces of candy when children are good as if they were seals or dogs doing tricks. Are there no other ways to make the children of this country obey?

Perhaps not since many of my American students are fat enough to feed a whole village in my country.

I think when you became a powerful country you did not have so many fat children. The ones in my class could not invade any country or do any work except sit upon things that need flattening.

In America, no one has the right to assault anyone for any reason. Assault of a student is a criminal act.

I am appalled at your methods for dealing with children in your country. I'm amazed that anyone who thinks American children are like animals has obtained a teaching position here. I am disgusted at your attitude.

Why is America such a powerful country? Surely, one of the reasons is that we don't treat our children like slaves who can be beaten at will. We encourage creativity. In the end, this works well for us.
