Is it legal for public schools to be sending home religious materials, such as ads for "this Sunday’s revival at this church" or "resurrection Easter egg hunt" events at local churches?

Also is it legal they hold "bible classes" as an elective during normal school hours.

Now your child doesn't have to attend...but if they do not, they sit in an empty classroom with 1 or 2 other kids or get shuffled off to another class (normally the grade below)

This often adds to childhood pressures as it becomes a reason to tease the child that didn't attend.

Are they able to do this to kids?....are the pressures of school not enough?

this is happening in NC state...please answer only if you really know something about this I do intend to take action on this matter.

I had a male P.E teacher, the girls only had to hint around the subject of periods and he would go all pale and stuttery, shoo us over to the side and not press us to take part any further. I of course never took advantage of his embarrassment!
What was your best excuse?

Here are some examples: He had to write 10 sentences with Appositives behind a non-subject noun. 1. A lot of people drink soda, a fizzy drink. On the last sentence he misspelled Illinois (-5 points) Did not capitalize Illinois(-5) forgot the common (-10) and forgot the period (-10) All the other sentences were correct. He recieved a 70 on paper. I think if she counts the mistakes she has to give equal credit to the correct sentences??? That one sentence was worth 25 points out of 10 total sentences. It doesn't make sense. Also on his spelling words, he has to 20-25 words them 5 times each. Each handwriting mistake she takes off five points. For example he will write excellent, 5 X -5 no loop on the e,t -5 no loop on the l, -5 forgot to fully cross the T. The point is that this is subjective grading. She can be as lenient or as picky as she wants. She can take off more points than she gives credit. Is this worth complaining about? Its in other subjects too.

This is a longer story than it would seem. I am currently taking 5 classes. 4 of which I am getting over 90% so far in, 1, not. This is because I have been overloaded on my other courses, I am doing school until 8 or 9 PM each day. Normally, I'd be able to shift into super-turbo-overdrive, but I am currently also having family problems. I prefer not to go into detail with that, but it is the main thing that is holding me back.

As another downside, last month my computer crashed and I lost all my school files; I had to start some things from scratch. I will be able to do these assignments, I just will have to turn them in late, but my teacher grades the assignments a zero even if they are simply late. I was wondering if there was any way I could make an emotional plea to the teacher to let me turn in my assignments late. Do you guys think it would work?

I have put my life (or what's left of it) on hold many times for school, and I don't want it all to come undone now...

i have a 14 year old who due to almost being killed after being jumped by over a dozen kids after school, and not being placed into a safer school by school district had to repeat the 8th grade.

the problem is that i enrolled him in a charter school that was not any better than the public schools in our area and i had to transfer him into catholic school after the first trimester. he is now failing at his new school as well.

he does not want to study. i've tried everything but he has no motivation. i paying a private tutor whom i'm thinking about getting rid of.

i was thinking about using the software that is used by teachers and tutors to help my son. i figured it would probably be more on point if he sees the progress that is being made and if he has to move along with the program instead of sitting down and pretending he listens to his tutor.

can anyone recommend a good, i mean GOOD software

package?

Langston Hughes'
Mother to Son

In this poem, Hughes writes about a mother speaking to her son about life's experiences. He uses the metaphor of a crystal stair.
_______________________________________________
____

Well, son, I'll tell you:
Life for me ain't been no crystal stair.
It's had tacks in it,
And splinters,
And boards torn up,
And places with no carpet on the floor --
Bare.
But all the time
I'se been a-climbin' on,
And reachin' landin's,
And turnin' corners,
And sometimes goin' in the dark
Where there ain't been no light.
So boy, don't you turn back.
Don't you set down on the steps
'Cause you finds it's kinder hard.
Don't you fall now --
For I'se still goin', honey,
I'se still climbin',
And life for me ain't been no crystal stair.

But Im just curious is it possible or impossible to get accepted to UCLA after being rejected from UC San Diego? I mean 45% of students at UCSD are accepted compared to UCLA 27%. But both schools have different process for admission. So what do you think?
