If so, is it possible to go to a college, like Oxford, a couple weeks later after passing? Or does it take like a longer time?

In the summer term when you are 15 or 16. You submit your application to do A-levels (or equivalent) at College at the begining of the year - before you do your GCSEs and by the time you actually finish them and get the results you will have heard if you have been accepted or not.

If you are refering to Oxford UNIVERSITY, a few months before you do your A-Levels at 18 you submit an application to do a certain Degree course. They will only accept the people who have got really HIGH grades.

You take GCSE's at the end of year 11 when you are 16. you then go to college to take your A levels, which takes 2 years. Then you can go to a university, like Oxford.

You do your GCSEs when you're 16, in May or June.

You need A levels to get into University and that involves another 2 years of study.

You normally apply to the university of your choice during this time and they will offer to a place which is conditional on you getting certain grades in your A Levels.

You get the results of your A Levels in August and university starts in mid September.

There is a set schedule for GCE/GCSE exams in different subjects. Generally speaking though, the exams are held twice a year : winter and spring. I did a combination of gce's and gcse's so i am not too sure on the schedule, but I think GCSE's were in held in November and May, while GCE's were held in January and June/July.
I am not sure about college application in England, but generally speaking, you start applying for colleges early [before your results come in]. But they have your previous O-Level results, AS results, high school GPA, etc to decide on your admittance, A-Level results will probably only come in a few weeks before school starts anyway.
