Primary & Secondary Education - March 2007

I am in year 9 and we have to learn french we have no choice but i am picking my GCSE's this yr and am picking french instead of spanishbecause i find it easier even tho im still not gd at french, but the thing is even if i try my teacher shouts at me when its wrong i have argued with her plenty of times and when its parents evening she pretends that she dont shout at me, she wont let me move groups and i feel like she enjoys taking her anger out on me i really want to quit french and wag the lessons but my parents will find out , does anyone have any sharp remarks that i can say to her when she is shoutin at me for doing it wrong please help me coz i dont want to end up punching my teacher coz that is the way shes heading plz help i would be really grate-ful

We had some severe thunderstorms, and we were under a tornado warning for awhile. I was checked out by my dad, but I'm really worried about one of my friends. I have no idea whether or not the school is keeping the kids who couldn't get a hold of their parents by phone. She couldn't get a hold of hers because her dad commutes and her mom is a teacher. I'm kinda worried about her, because school would normally have let out by now and she would be home, but she hasn't answered any of my attempts to contact her. What should I do?

say what you like but smaller school sizes, smalller class sizes, better teachers, less violence in schools, kids wear uniforms, better ways of testing students, they've got us beat, and so do most countries. Why?

computer oriantated? How easy is it to print pictures and cut and paste? No thought whatsoever goes into it and a piece of homework takes 10 mins max! No wonder the average kid can't read and write to a very high standard.

the no child left behind law is smothering our brighter childern. They are board with unstimulating classes. many act out be cause of the confinement found in public schools which are geared for the slower learners. Why are we punishing our brighter Children? they won't place them in higher classes because they claim the children are not mature enough for the classes. HELP!!!!

I am sick to death of my son who has Autism being called an idiot and a classroom disruptive person by parents who are very lucky to have so called normal children.He is in mainstream school much to my disgust he should have been in a special school who could meet his needs,i would like to hear from other parents who have had similar problems like myself where you fight the education system and get nowhere then you have parents of normal children at your throat everytime they play up in class.My autistic son is now 15yrs so i have had a long time with this problem.Love to hear from you

My son's school makes me crazy sometimes .There is a new set of rules every week. We can't drop them off just on the sidewalk in front of the school.( thats in the parking lot) except for a 15 ft area right in front of the main entrance. That means I have to pass the building his classroom is in and wait for all these people who don't trust their kid to walk 10 ft into the building.( They have to sit there holding up traffic and watch the kid go in the door even though there are teachers standing there to do that job.)
But they are allow to ride their bikes or walk from home.
Then they are micromanaging recess they aren't allowed to play football, not even catch! then they outlawed kickball, and tore down a cool obstical course the kids loved.

The best school in my area is a C of E school. However, we are not at all a religious family. They sent out an application form asking for church attended etc and I was truthful and said we didnt attend the local church. What chance have I got of getting my daughter into the school?

My son is 5 years old. he has literally fallen behind in class, beause of his behavior. he finds it difficult to listen and concentrate in class for long period of time. due to tis he has fallen behind and cannot read well. he is last in class. I have put him into private tuition on sundays, but this is only for 1 hour and expensive for me. I want him to do well and really encourage him to do well all the time. he even tells me he wants to be a pilot when he grows up!

how can i try at home to help, we read bedtime stories, but he can't read and we practice alphabets and sounds.

please help as he has not even got any help from school as the school has used all thier allocated hours and time or budget up for extra assistant.
