I'm not a teacher, but I'll take a shot at this.

1. materials. Because you have to "lose" something first in order to "find" it. Therefore materials must come first if you wish to construct.

2. pretend. Find and locate have the same meaning, as is feign and pretend.

3. pane. Find and kind are rhyming word, as is feign and pane.

4. way. rhyming again.

5. song. present and past tense.

6. fourth. I don't know how to explain this.

7. hands

I'm not sure if all is correct though so don't take my word for it.

I am not a teacher. I am a 53 year old male and here is what I think:

3) pane (because it rhymes? WTF?)
4) way (because it rhymes?)
5) sang (present tense to past tense)
6) fourth
7) weapons? This one is tricky... Plates are a part of a set of dishes, so arms are a part of a set of weapons? It's the only answer that makes sense, but by including legs & hands as possible answers it becomes a trick question...)
