Primary & Secondary Education - March 2007

I am in year 11, but this year we are not allowed study leave. The headteacher says it is the government, but I know plenty of schools that are getting study leave.
Are you getting study leave this year for GCSE?
Do you know anyone getting study leave this year for GCSE?
What school do you or that person go to?

Now I know some people will not like to tell me which school they go because you may think that I am a pervert, so I will tell you that I am not and that I go to Queensbury School - the worst school ever! This is a really important subject matter to me, this is my future and I will be able to study better if I am at home, and therefore I will get better grades!

Hi all!
My son is 3 years old now and i am starting my research on school options for him.
So far as I understand it I have the following options: Public, private, charter schools and homeschooling. I am leaning towards private school now (i know some of them are very expensive). She is a 6th grade student in an excellent Charter School. Her individual teachers assign her 20 -30 minute homework assignments which add up to well over an 1 1/2 of homework when combined. On weekends she is doing about 2 hours plus another 2 on a year long project they were each assigned.

She is very studious and does her work, but I am worried about her burning out. She should really enjoy the time she has now because we all know it doesn't get any easier as you grow up.

At the year end conference, I was going to bring this up to the teacher, but I don't want to sound like a typical complaining parent. In my opinion, they should not have homework on the weekend until atleast 9th grade. They need to time to just be kids.

And as every parent knows, when the kids have homework and projects - it means I have homework and projects. There are other things educational that I would like to do than what is being thrown on them.

My niece is being bullied. See previous comments and answers. There is a person who is supposed to be giving advice but simultaneously is bullying my sister. I have already mentioned that she is doing her best to resolve the situation. Yet I am getting unhelpful comments from a person who wants to do a character assassination of her. I want answers about bullying, but not a continual assault on my sister's failings. I feel that such people are bullying her because she is already doing her best, yet in one reply a person three times chastised my sister. I also know that she has gone through a difficult time and to explain this would take about three thousand more characters of writing space. I feel that people can have tough times and they try to haul themselves back up. Also it is judgemental to hurl abuse at her when you dont know all the facts concerning her life. She is sorting out her daughter's life as much as she can, and needs positive support. Any comments?

yes the muslim garment so many seem to insist on wearing.does this belong in the classroom for 9 year olds.she complained to me she couldnt hear her propperly.all she could see were her eyes.right or wrong.and doesnt facial expressions count whilst teaching.

She is very smart. I'm making a list of words to put on index cards. I have some like; yellow (all colors), go, boy, one (1-10), out, etc. Do you have any other words you think would be easy for her to learn. In case you are wondering, she's in K-G and they have to know how to read before going to the 1st. Yes, the teachers do go over words with her, but I want to go over more words. No, I don't put too much pressure on her. It's just that she already know the words her teacher has given her. I want to challenge her so she won't get bored.

When i was in primary 1,my teacher had always called on me to do stuff.
It was the same in primary 2.
Primary 3 was worse.My new form misstress did not even call on me to do stuff.
Primary 4 was almost the worst.My new form misstress who taught me was so damn fierce.Plus,I only held a miserable position of a English Head of department.1st came Chair then Vice-Chair,then English Head.
I dunn wanna continue bout Primary 5 and 6 and Secondary and all that.
I feel like my school work is going down.If this continues,i think i will be last in class.
Someone please help me?
