She is very smart. I'm making a list of words to put on index cards. I have some like; yellow (all colors), go, boy, one (1-10), out, etc. Do you have any other words you think would be easy for her to learn. In case you are wondering, she's in K-G and they have to know how to read before going to the 1st. Yes, the teachers do go over words with her, but I want to go over more words. No, I don't put too much pressure on her. It's just that she already know the words her teacher has given her. I want to challenge her so she won't get bored.

make her read any fairy tale book and tell her to list all the words she understands n all those that she doesn't understand in the book , this will help her a lot and by the way why don't u also ask her meanings of some three letter words and four letter words from the dictionary ... why not find household substances to teach and a book of pictures o show so she can identify some of the pictures if she doesn't know them then they will be new for her so there she will have learnt new words... best of luck ... its hard to teach kids but this way is pretty successful ... my mum used this way for me and same as my teacher ...Good luck once again

look up www.tolland.k12.ct.us/pkr/specials/chuschle/highfrequencywordlists.html. this will give you the high frequency words which are the most important. or do a search for high frequency words on the internetalso go for rhyming word like fat, cat, mat etc. to help her pick out word patterns. The high frequency words are most important. More than anything read with her and her reading will improve. let her have a go and help her with words she is struggling with. Good luck

Use words in these categories; environment (tree), transportation (truck), food (milk), and friends (toy). These are words that she probably uses pretty often, so she's already comfortable using them and will be more interested in learning how they look on paper.

I used to put words on post-its and stick them all around the house. such as door or window. get her to try to work out what they say and have fun sticking them around the house herself.
