OK, Kiki, here are some reasons to have school year round...my source is some nephews who grew up this way and turned out fine.

1. Kids don't forget their lessons over a long summer vacation and teachers don't have to spend as much time reviewing last year's curriculum.

2. Year round school usually runs for 9 or 10 weeks and then takes a two-week break. Kids and parents have much more flexibility for vacations and other activities...you don't have to go to Disneyland only when it's hot and crowded!

3. The original reason school let out in the summer was so that children could help their parents on the farm. Guess what? Most of us don't farm any longer...why be slaves to a now-meaningless tradition?

4. Learning happens all the time, year round. It doesn't stop over holiday breaks or summer vacation.

Maybe in a year round school the teachers will make sure you know the difference between THAT and DAT.
