I am in year 11, but this year we are not allowed study leave. The headteacher says it is the government, but I know plenty of schools that are getting study leave.
Are you getting study leave this year for GCSE?
Do you know anyone getting study leave this year for GCSE?
What school do you or that person go to?
Now I know some people will not like to tell me which school they go because you may think that I am a pervert, so I will tell you that I am not and that I go to Queensbury School - the worst school ever! This is a really important subject matter to me, this is my future and I will be able to study better if I am at home, and therefore I will get better grades!

I'm not trying to skive off, I revise all the time, I'm a A*-B student, You can't revise at school because you have lesson were you will just be messing around, everyone does it and you can't concentrate. In uni and collage, you don't have to go in everyday 8:30 - 5:00 you just go in for your lessons/lectures and you study then in your own time. Don't patronise me, you don't know me or what I do, I actually want to get good grades! And for the person who said he leaves the day before his first exam - thats study leave - We break up many days after the exams have finished - 29th June.

I know exactly what you mean! Ok....so you spend this time going to school where you've got idiots in your class who aren't bothered about their exams. They mess around... teacher is preoccupied with behaviour management rather than revision? The teachers will be concentrating on making sure the idiots get C's because for them as long as you get a C or above that's all that counts for their league tables.
I was lucky enough to get study leave, this was 4 years ago.
My mum gave my brother some days off (writing notes for him) as long as he did spend the day studying and could show her that he'd done enough work for the day.
I'm not in any way saying you should skip school...but perhaps you could ask ur teachers if they can set you work to take into the library?? if you are a "good" student, i cant see why they'd have a problem with it.
Failing that...during my A-levels my attendence was 76% cuz i took so much time off!!
There's definately something to be said for self-study!
Good luck with your GCSE's

I live in one of the most deprived areas of the country, and last year I got 12 As, two of which were A*s, and I didn't have any study leave. Just revise when you can: it doesn't matter whether it's at school or home. In fact, at school you're less likely to procrastinate, haha.

We aren't getting study leave either. Something to do with it is that people take advantage of a break and it is more effective to be in school the upcoming weeks before exams. Boooring i know but hey .. if its the best for us ..

Schools have to mark study leave down as "authorised absence". The government are encouraging the use of alternatives to the traditional study leave. Try the dfes website if you want the regs.

I really don't know but i have just shown this to my daughter who is in year10 and she said OMG they had better let me take study leave, i feel you wont be alone in wanting study leave, have you asked any of your friends that go to other schools to see if they are still getting study leave or not.

I am in Sheffield Springs Academy, and i'm pretty sure that we're allowed study leave this year but apparently it may be 'in school' study leave which kinda defeats the object, but nothing has been confirmed yet, hope we do get it though.

when i was secondary school i my headteacher decided that we wouldnt have study leave either because he thought that most of the students will be in front of the TV or out.
You are just going to have to learn to prioritise, your going to have to when your older, college or uni doesnt give study leave so you might as well get used to it now.
Revise at weekends and when you get back from school instead of going out to the cinema or watching eastenders!
