For children I think it is no longer acceptable in modern day society. Caning worked well in my fathers day but I do not think we will ever see a return to it in schools.
For concenting adults - and by consent I mean a b/f who accepts it over an alternative option as opposed to guys who are in to BDSM stuff, I think it is most effective in the cases that they have been particularly disobedient. I think it is the most effective way of getting the point over and the few guys I have caned tend not to have repeated the transgression I punishd them for where as they tend to only remember so long after a spanking.

Caning helps discipline some students. But if a child gets caning often, it maybe useless becasue some of them get used to the pain and would not change themselves. Public caning make students feel embarassed so some of them change for the better

There is absolutely no advantages to caning.
