The only one I remember being read was Charlotte's Web. I was eight, and in the staff-room I overheard the teachers laughing that some childern in the class cried. I went home and obediently told my parents and got smacked for lying!! ha ha! Childhood was fun!

Yeah I can remember being sat round in class while the teacher would read us a story from a book. I used to get lost in the story but when i try and read a book now I just cannot get into it.

I remember a supply teacher at my primary school reading to my class from "The Voyage of the Dawn Treader", and I told my older sister about it. We then collected all 7 Narnia books in paperback between us. I wonder how long it would have taken me to hear about them otherwise.
And, to the other anwerer, yes! I am a primary school librarian and I tell the kids stories regularly, both storytelling and reading them. And we encourage visitors in to do the same, particularly when they can tell about local history or things like that from their own experience.
