I've heard a lot recently from parents on my Type 1 diabetes group about having difficulty getting schools to cooperate in providing their very young diabetic children with a personal assistant. I mean, come on, these kids are legally entitled to it, so what's the big deal? How could someone like me become a child's personal assistant in the classroom?

In my school ,in art class(only second semestor), we bring our supplies at the start of the course. And the teacher keeps them in a cabinent/wall storage thing.

Whe I was in art class on about a week ago, on a Wensday. I i had by supply box with me and at the end of class , put them in the storage unit like everyone else. I was absent on thursday and friday, and came back on the fallowing Monday. That day, i realized that my supplies where missing . The teacher was "looking" for them and said she didn't know whant happend to them. She later gave me a old used box of supplies (dirty and much of the items were missing). then she was like "to bad, you had a lot of nice stuff in there". She never onse asked to replace my stolen possesions, that SHE was RESPONSIBLE FOR.

This is one of the questions that has been asked several times, but never answered for me. Is it illegal for students to be assigned homework that is due the day they return from vacation break? If this is true, does it matter if the school is public or private?

thanks.

How far are they going to push these students, man im tired we need to do homework also.

I read it in the yahoo front page and adults you have nothing to disagree with me about because when you went to school you did not have extended school hours so there!

1. Do you believe an achievement gap exists at your school?
2. If so, what do you think is the cause?
3. Is there anything schools can do to diminish the achievement gap?

Do you think your school can make the following changes?
-more equitably distribute students and goods?
-make self-concept an important priority?
-decrease in-school segregation?

What grade did/do you teach? In what county/state?
Thanks!

I have a hard time beleiving that my 9 yr old daughter should be in special Ed. She was born with apnea and actually died nine times the first day of her life. There is a chance she may have suffered some minor brain damage, or even have dislexia, or ADHD or even be a little autistic. I have had testing done, but none were conclusive. Anyhow, she is in the 3rd grade and pretty much functioning on a kindergarden/first grade level. She is a beautiful sweet lil girl thats sits quietly in class and mimics all the other children, pretending to read, and do her studies. You would never even know it til you see her work. The ARD commity decided to put her in special Ed. She has been in Special Ed since 1st grade. Now it seems she is getting further and further behind, and they dont seem to care. Now they want to put her in life skills classes, so she will be able to survive in life. I visited her special Ed class, she appears to be the only one in there without a severe disability, and I dont feel she needs that. Why wont the school help us find out what the real problem is? I dont want her just pushed through to graduate not even knowing how to count money or read!!!
Any advice here will be greatly appreciated.
