Books are necessary for English skills. Watch movies and turn on the subtitles. I had a girl friend who had a hard time understanding the nuances of English so I asked her what type of movies she liked and we cleared every word she did not understand.
We also talk about what certain phases meant and how it was used in our society. After about a year her English improved dramatically. It got to the point all I had to do is refer to some scene in the move to give her a reference to understand situation in this country.
If was a great experience. I would like to find another non English speaking girl friend and do this again.

Definitely. I mean, your spelling will surely become better. You know more vocabulary so it would make expressing yourself easier. But start at where you are and walk up each level slowly. I think when it comes to language, taking it slowly will work. Still, remember to read ACTIVELY. Its not about looking at the words. It's about concentrating to comprehend what was written.

Reading is so wonderful especially reading to children. My daughter and I always had a time each day to read. A child can not read until they've been read to. The more you read the better you get in everything.
