I don't agree with it. I highly doubt it'll change our education in any way.

How could you evaluate the homework textile? i do no longer merchandise to a 220 - 240 day college year --- IF we relatively taught arithmetic and technology to jap, chinese language, Russian ranges. i could opt to work out pupil relatively be attentive to three historic previous and have relatively study countless the significant records in American historic previous: assertion of Independence, shape, Federalist Papers, Wealth of countries. Poe, Lincoln's speeches. some expertise of Western Civilization and actually take well-being center instructions the place they actually could bathe and workout. increasing a school year or hours without removing the fat (silliness) of the administration and curriculum presently present day in faculties right this moment won't advance something. Giving 3 hours of homework that may not be in a position to be performed because of the fact the pupil can not study or the fabric became into in no way taught (all too time-honored with admire to arithmetic and technology the place the instructor has greater to do with the activities communities then educating) won't advance rankings or instruct our little ones. Giving 5 minutes or greater of homework won't advance the pupil or this united states if the dad and mom do no longer ask to work out it and enforce that that's going to be performed and could supply help whilst mandatory or acquire help whilst mandatory. dad and mom are in charge for educating their babies --- no longer the state --- so enable's make the dad and mom get entangled. My babies get domicile --- do chores --- attend the kinfolk dinner and then homework is accomplished via all. everybody in our kinfolk has to study an added e book each and each fortnight, that's reviewed via all individuals of the kinfolk. mutually as we've a television that's seldom on.

If you read all the way through, you know that most places are doing it (a) out of pressure and (b) with 'more interesting' programs in mind to help reinforce the current programs - not to make a detention-like study time! For (b), they promote activities-based learning (like putting together magazines, cooking, auto mechanics, forensics) ...
Education pays off; people who follow up on education gain power and earn more, most of the time.
Two notes: many school systems have the bare minimum of federally required days on their calendar (180, I believe). In many parts of the country, this becomes a hassle ---- if they miss even a day due to snow, for example, they LOSE a holiday as a make-up day. So adding to the school year could 'cut out' that need. Longer days, on the other hand, IF EFFECTIVE at helping bring up test scores, might eventually mean a shorter school year (unlikely, but if results are positive - it's possible to lobby for it).
There's a lot to learn and enjoy about life, rather than to feel "hassled by" and "need to escape from." I hope you'll soon be blessed with finding passionate interests and/or teachers who help you see ---> EDUCATION IS AN INVESTMENT. Don't waste time now ... As an adult, time and money are awfully precious for having to 'make up' what you 'miss' earlier. Best wishes.

I know why. Because that is what the school board has decided for your school. Some reasons may be: 1) There were bomb threats that took up too much school hours or too many snow days. 2) You got a longer spring or winter vacation. 3) You started later In September. Any of these are reasons why this has happened. If you are really mad about it and want to change it i think the best idea is to sign a petition of all the students in the school saying you want out earlier and come up with some good reasons why you should get out earlier Example: It's to stressful or it gets too hot in the school. Or you could write a really good letter to the head of the school district saying the reasons why you should get out early but make sure you have good proof and very good examples. I am sure this will work.

The lengthening of the school year would allow students to keep a limber mind over the important things in life that will stay with them; reading writing and arithmetic. It may sound dull to you right now, but what would you do instead of learning to fill your day? Games, hanging out with friends, looking for trouble?
Oooh, that sounds like a GOOD use of time. That won't get you any closer to college or to a decent job. Make the most of your youth and your education, people from other countries are swarming in our country to take advantage of what we have to offer. They want to build a better life by living and learning HERE!
Doesn't that tell you something?

They already WASTE enough time making absolutely sure kids are useless until they're almost 20. They teach almost NOTHING of value either intellectually or practically. I graduated in a "good" school district w/honors & AP credits, yet I still sucked it up during my 1st year in college. I had never had to study before college. All the "homework" in h.s. was just busy work.
States trying to drag children into p.s. sooner & keep them longer are just trying to "socialize" the poor little bunchkins into being well-behaved mindless proletarians. That's why we homeschool.
