We're all hearing a lot of talk lately about improving public schools and what communities can do to help their schools get better. What role can parents play? And how can parents help their children reach their full potential in school, whether it's public or not?

when I was in high school, we read a short story in which one

(the younger) brother accidentally shot the older one.

The "moral" of the story was that the boy was in shock,

which explains why he didn't report it right away. Plus, he had

chores to do, & since the chore site was right there, why go all

the way home and have to come back? You would have to

read the story to really get it...

My question, actually in two parts-what's the title, and

who wrote it? As I stated, it was in H.S., a LONG time ago.

Had I thought of it, I would have asked my buddy George

Washington if there was any trick to memorizing this info...

I am a military spouse, and my son attends school on a military base. he is in need of physical therapy weekly because he was born with bi-lateral clubfoot. There are no physicians in our area to see him so we have to travel 100 miles each week for him to be seen. His school offers therapy, and has many openings. They will not see him because he is not mentally handicapped. I think this is crazy. I have to pull him out of school for an entire day each week to travel when there is someone here, and the only reason they wonlt see him is because he is not LD. How would I fight this or even voice my opinion?

What is with so many of the kids today typing in broken English? Is it that hard and time consuming to spell out w-h-a-t compared to wat? Have these kids not learned how to spell or form proper sentences? Does it bother anyone else as much as it does me, trying to read these questions?

i go to a very strict school and recently black plastic headbands have beem all the rage. However the school thought these where inappropriate. They have banned them. But black is a plain colour and it kept all the girls hairs neat and out of their faces. What is your opinion?

My school also makes us come to school in our uniform( stockings, skirt, top, tie, tie up shoes and blazer) even if we have sport first period! They wont let us come on our sports uniform! I would like to hear your views on the matter.

I just felt that last week.

Must be because we're moving to another city in the summer..
