Though this is unheard of in most school districts, there are typically two ways this can happen in some other districts (and rarely in college.)

The first way: Some school districts grade on a 5 point scale instead of 4. In that way an F gets 1 point, D = 2, C = 3, B = 4 and an A = 5 grade points. On the regular scale F would get 0 points and an A would get 4 points.

The second way: Some school districts award additional grade points for Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate and Honors classes. In that way if a student gets an A in an AP class they get 5 maximum grade points per class instead of just 4.

in college its possible... basically.... you get mostly A's and A+'s in 90% of your classes. Maybe one or two B's but no more and nothing less. You don't have to be a nerd but you do need to know how to study and retain what you study.
