What is with so many of the kids today typing in broken English? Is it that hard and time consuming to spell out w-h-a-t compared to wat? Have these kids not learned how to spell or form proper sentences? Does it bother anyone else as much as it does me, trying to read these questions?

Yes, it does. I type everything in proper sentences, with correct capitalization, and use spell check where it's available. Kids now would rather look cool, than smart. And most of them don't care that typing like that makes them look uneducated. If we all talked the way we typed, then our language would go down the drain. I think that's one reason why students aren't able to spell as well. They're so used to typing like that on line with their friends, that when they're in class, they don't know how to use proper grammar. We need to get kids off the computers so much and back into some books.

Text messaging... Everything else. Just an excuse. They're all lazy as hell! C'mon most kids don't even read books anymore, you expect them to spell right?

Whoever says that English has unnecessary words, letters, whatever... People you trim up this language any more and there won't be anything left! It's already so basic; barely any endings, or anything... C'mon...

Everyone is in such a hurry today. No one has time to spell the words out. It's like the new version of short hand or something. I agree with you, it is annoying. Makes them look uneducated.

Hey, I feel the same way. I'm 17, and I properly type English; seems to be a bit of a rarity these days.

I think you need to look only as far back as the 16th century to see that spelling evolves.
the abreviations are similar to shorthand of the 50's to get a point accross. It remains to be seen if they REALLY cannot spell. there are plenty of shortcuts to getting communication across in this electronic age.

It started disappearing with spell check, continued eroding with rap music, and was finished off by the internet.

some letters in words are useless. just like the "h" in what and the "t" in mortgage. but some people just find a way to type/talk faster. It is done in every language. its called a dialect.

Because they want to make it simple and short.
They don't even us proper grammar for example:
Hey, how's you?

It's of course easier and simpler, but we must remember to write english correcty.
