She was called the Mother of the gods because she gave birth to the Olympians. Cronus was fearful of a prophecy that his son would dethrone him, so he swallowed his children until Rhea gave him a stone wrapped in swaddling as if it were a child. Cronus ate it and Rhea was able to give birth to her son Zeus without his knowing. Her worship was associated with fertility rites.

none of them had "powers". they were know for their areas of expertise. rhea was the mother of zeus.
