No. Can't remember when I read it, but anything that was written in it I'd already heard by the time I finished middle school.

I remember a show about this, and the final arguement was brought up when a teacher described a horrific story of a wife being kidnapped and tortured, raped, and killed. When her husband found her he cut her up to show people how these men had abused her. When the ones who wanted to ban the other books found out that that story had come from the Bible, they changed their minds. Whether that story is really in the Bible is beyond me, I haven't ever heard or read it. So should books be banned, NO! That takes away from the freedom of speech, our first amendment, and although it is in schools, I feel that students need to learn about diversity and literature just like we did when we were in school. It really ticked me off to know that in doing book reports, I was limited to which books were considered "worthy," especially since some of my favorite authors weren't on the list! Keep books like The Catcher in the Rye in our schools! They serve a good purpose!

No. Once one book is banned, all books would be banned. All it does is start another battle in school systems that no one needs right now.

Depends on what grade level you're talking about? Elementary and Middle School? Definitely. High School. Probably not.

Absolutely NOT, when literature is banned, extremism is only
two books away.

I want to be able to find ANY book at ANY time and NOT have bush's goons looking down my back as I read it.

Not at all, we should be reading a wide range of books from all genres.

It is a bit much for elementary-aged children, but I think it would be acceptable for middle/high students. It is one of my favorites - a true classic!
