Repititon is the only way to place information in long-term memory. You can do this with flash cards or try word association. Another great way to learn is to teach someone else. If you have friends or family who are willing to help you, teach them what you need to know by lecturing. Make sure you understand what it is you are studying. The suggestion to rewrite notes in your own words is a very good one. You should always do this. You can also try talking out loud to yourself and cover the material you will be tested on. Make a tape or CD of what it is you need to learn and listen to it for several hours each day. It would help if I knew what it is you're being tested on and if you knew what type of learner you are: audio, visual, hands-on or a combination.

The silly song routine does work!. What I use to do to further enhance the memorization process was play a catchy tune on my guitar and set the information to memorize to it.
Doesn't work with Math though, that just takes hard work.

Rewrite all your notes, in full, in your own words. This way you think over every part of the course, and make sure you understand it all. Also, the act of rewording it helps to make it stick in your memory. Oh, and when you're done, you end up with a bunch of nonfiction writing on some subject that you can probably do something with.

Divide what you have into 7 then each day remember one seventh of it so it isnt too hard for your brain to cope with! GOOD LUCK!

just writing things over and over and over helps me. make flashcards, or make ur own test questions, then answer them. i know it sounds stupid and repetitive, but it helps.
