How we figure out our gpa system is every A is worth 4, B's are worth 3, C's are worth 2, D's are worth 1, and Fs are worth 0. First, you figure out how many of each letter grade you have and multiply how much you have by the number it's worth. For example, if you have 5 A's and 2 B's you take 4*5 A's, and add that product to 3* 2 B's. See what I mean? Once you figure out the grand total, you divide that number by how many classes you're taking and getting credit for. I hope I helped!

It looks like your school is on a percentage system rather than a point system. Since most schools use the point system, people were a bit confused by your question.

The 88.41 is taking each of your class grades as a percent, and averaging them.

As an example, lets say you got final percentages this semester of a 95 in Social Studies, a 90 in English, an 85 in Science, and an 80 in Math. That totals 350, divide by 4 (number of classes) for an average of 87.5%.

The 88.41 is taking EVERY class you took, and averaging the scores like that. Since it is a percentage, a standard letter grade attached to this would be a B+ (90-100 would be an A, 80-89 a B, 70-79 a C, 60-69 a D, and 59 and below an F).

Most GPAs are based on the letter grades instead of the percentages. An "A" is worth 4 points, a "B" is worth 3 points, a "C" is worth 2 points, a "D" is worth 1 point, and an "F" is worth no points. If you earned 2 A's and 2 B's, you would earn:
4+4+3+3 = 14
14/4 = 3.5
Therefore, with those sample grades you would have a 3.5 GPA.

An 88.41% would probably translate to around a 3.3 GPA on the 4-point system (you've been earning A's and B's, with a few more B's than A's).

You should consult the university that you're applying to (or that you graduated from). If that was your university GPA, that would essentially be equivalent to a 4.0, but the standards are higher if that is your highschool GPA. In that case, it would probably be around 3.7

See the links below. On the second link, 0.5 equals a half-year course and 1.0 equals a full-year course.

The GPA basically means:

A = 4.0 points
B = 3.0 points
C = 2.0 points
D = 1.0 points

Usually, you need a 90 or better to get an A, so 88.41 may translate to an A- or B+.

3.0--calculating your gpa varies, one way it is done is by dividing total points by total credit hours(technical colleges), of course this is done after you figure out what each grade point value is.
