This is my first semester at Columbia as a biomedical engineering major and im tempted to leave I think i will only get a 2.0 - 2.5 and might not pass one class. Is it best for me to transfer to a lower first tier university or a high second tier university and have a 3.5-4.0 by the time I apply for graduate school.

Is there a career that she could possibly study for in the psychology field that doesn't require longer than 4 years? Counseling? What degrees could she go for instead?

Okay, I'm a good student. Mind you, I'm not super fantastic but I'm smart, no doubt. During my freshman year of high school I think I just sort of stopped caring- I'm not really sure what happened. And I took this Journalism half-year course and the teacher gave me two D's. At the end of my freshman year my GPA was a 3.13. Right now, in me Junior year and at the end of my first quarter I have a 3.5 since I got nothing below a 4.1 -3.9 GPA for each separate 9 weeks during sophomore year. It helped out my GPA a lot but I'm still worried.

I only have three more grading periods and then I have to start applying for college. I want to go to the Uni. of Pittsburgh but I don't know if I can get in because of 9th grade.

My SAT score is in the 1800's without studying if that helps.

And I do a lot of community service and school clubs and activities. Also, do you think I could qualify for any scholarships?

Does anyone think I might be able to get into Pitt? Or it's pre-med program ?

I have completed my degree in psychology and now plan to go do my Masters next September part-time. Can anyone tell me what it's like to do this? Is it manageable? I know I will practically have no free time (this does not worry me), but what I am frightened of is, i'm not sure if i'm going to have the motivation to do uni work after being at work all day. Thus can I have some advice from people who work full-time and study part-time, like how you manage your time, and how you motivate yourself when feeling unmotivated.

I am considering transferring from the University of Pittsburgh to the University of California San Diego. All sports and such aside, as a potential employer, which would you look upon most favorably? If you would be indifferent, please explain, I am just trying to make the best decision for my future. I understand that many other factors will be involved with employment, but I am currently just researching UC San Diego (please do not tell me to research both schools, because I understand that).

Note: I will be going for my major in communications (most likely focusing on sales and marketing).

Thank you!

Distressing images become familiar with the viewers affecting their behaviors. As an example, Sontag mentions the image of cancerous lungs printed on packs of cigarettes used to alert viewers of the consequence of smoking and to inspire smokers to quit if they desire to. However observers have the right to accept or reject the message of illustrations. People adapt to the terrors of real life and those of images. Nevertheless, habituation is a longer process and does not always occur. Eventually, adapted viewers are affected by shocking images and weep because they have become accustomed with the illustration as well as with the ongoing significance of the image in history.

I'm would like to apply to Cal Poly, it's not my dream school or anything, but I know they have some really great programs there, and it's in a really cool town. I'm applying to 7 different schools, 4 of them are UC's. For the UC's I'm putting down undeclared as my Major, because I haven't completely decided what i want to do (I'm a senior in high school). Unfourtanatley, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo has the policy that you have to declare your major when you apply.

If you go to Cal Poly can you please tell me your major and what you intend to do with that major and if you like that program. Also, please tell me if you like Cal Poly and what you like/ don't like about it. Any information helps!

I have very good GPA, done some extra curricular activities and held some positions, although not a president or a vice president. Did some volunteer activity and leadership courses also. I will be competing with many candidates with better resumes during the interview (you are talking about presidents, chairmen, athletes, student council leaders, etc). How do I stand out?

I'm in college and want to do very good and keep a good GPA because I want to be a vet. With that being said I'm getting a labtop this week for school and want to try World of warcraft. I hear this is a very addictive game but can some of you guys play a game but still keep a high gpa, I'm just wondering. Of course my school work comes first. But I want to have some fun as well.

Should I get this game. I have very good control of myself.

Has this been a problem for anyone?

I live in NY and I really want to go to Sacred Heart University in Conneticut. My unweighted average is 92.93 and weighted it is 97.99. My rank is 63 out of 414 which my counselor says puts me in the Top 15% and SH requires Top 30%. My SAT score is 1130 and SH requires 1100. Critical Reading: 610 Math: 520 Writing: 620. I moved many times so I don't have a ton of honors and AP classes on my transcript, only a few. And I talked with the admissions officer from Sacred Heart at my school and she said they look at senior classes as well, in which I am taking 4 AP's. I also have many recommendations as well as a list of community service/volunteer work I've done as well as awards such as National and Foreign Language Honor Societies. I also wrote an essay that my AP English teacher thinks is excellent and I have also scheduled an interview for December 5th. Do you think I have a chance at being accepted??

As a U of Michigan student I find that even though this school embraces a mixture of people as a black male I still see alot of hidden racism from non whites. For example there are indians and asians who I dont see talking to blacks but talking to asians and then whites as much. If they feel they are better than blacks why do they still get the same minority benefits as us?
