It is impossible to tell this, since you are currently only a sophomore and have not yet taken the SATs. In order to make this a possibility, you need to take the most rigorous academic program possible and do extremely well in it (the 3.4 would not be enough, and I'm not sure it is possible to raise it to a 4.0 in one year, since you would be combining two years with a 3.4 with only one year of higher grades). Your SAT score would have to be well over 2000 (probably closer to 2200). Your extracurriculars are good, and you have an interesting background, but like many students, you seem to over-emphasize the extracurriculars, as if they would substitute for the required academic record. At most elite schools, they look first at the academics. If those are sufficient, they will then look at the other factors, but they will not consider the other factors if your academics (rigor, grades, scores) are not strong enough.

You sound well-rounded. However, when it comes down to it, you can have a perfect GPA, a million extracurriculars, and be the all-around perfect candidate, but not get in.

What you need to think about is how you stand out among the many students that will be applying to Yale. From what you've said, there are two things that stand out: that you are involved in e.r.a.s.e., and your involvement in the Red Cross.

Keep doing what you're doing, and when it comes to applying for the actual university, play up these. If this is what you're interested in, then the university will be able to see that. This doesn't apply just to Yale; this applies to all universities and colleges.

Personally, I think you'll be just fine. Make sure you're working hard in school and taking high-level courses.

Good luck!

You never know until you try!

Apply, but have additional options to apply to just in case. It seems like you have an impressive resume so you shouldn't have any problem getting into a college, but the ivy league schools like Yale are unpredictable when it comes to admissions. You can have a 4.0 GPA be number 1 in your high school class, do every extra-curricular activity known to man, and still not get in.

Good luck!
