This is my first semester at Columbia as a biomedical engineering major and im tempted to leave I think i will only get a 2.0 - 2.5 and might not pass one class. Is it best for me to transfer to a lower first tier university or a high second tier university and have a 3.5-4.0 by the time I apply for graduate school.

Are you sure this is what you want to do, if your grades are that low? You might also think about alternative directions you want to go in for a career, not only a school. Having said that, most grad schools care as much about the perceived rigor of your undergraduate program as they do about the GPA, so getting a higher GPA at a lesser school would probably not gain you much over getting a slightly lower GPA at a better school,

Drop the one you are not passing. Changing school may be costing a lot of money? How about change your major?
