Is there a career that she could possibly study for in the psychology field that doesn't require longer than 4 years? Counseling? What degrees could she go for instead?

Both psychology and professional counseling require a master's degree. The good jobs in psychology require a PhD.

Marketing is very related to psychology and most jobs in marketing only require a bachelor's degree. Sales is also closely related to psychology.

Keep in mind, a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology is first a Bachelor of Arts and many jobs don't require a specific major, only the bachelor's degree.

Also remember, it's very possible that she'll change her mind either about the major or about how long she wants to go to college once she's in college.

You might want to let her know that most people don't finish their "4-year degree" in four years, five is much more common.

The best person you can talk to is a counselor at the college. S/he can advise at any psychology programs and put your daughter in the right place.

when she gets accepted, she'll get an academic advisor. He'll be her best guide for this (her high school counselor is great if she's still in high school).
