Is it resonable? If so, would you really have to work at it? How much?

It's not that hard to score well on the SAT. you automatically get 200 points for putting your name on it...

I took the SAT as a 7th grader and got an 800 overall (out of 1600) without any higher math training or too much review. I would recommend studying as much as you can before taking it, however. There are some very good review books out there, I like Kaplan myself, which offer several practice exams and advice on how to tackle the test.

Good luck!

SAT is now out of 2400.
The SAT has a combination of math (algebra and geometry),
reading, and a writing portion with very difficult vocabular, as well as an essay. For a 500 out of 2400 would be almost patheticlly easy, the average score is 1700, great colleges accept students with an average test score of 2000+. To score 500 is patheticlly easy, 150 score per section, that is only like 10 questions right per section!

Do you mean on one section of the SAT (800 points), like critical reasoning or math? Or on the entire SAT, which these days would mean 2400 points?

I think that if you mean on one section, it would be relatively unusual, because it is unlikely that you would have been exposed to much of the material upon which the exam is based. You have not, for example, had high school math yet. However, if you mean on the whole test score, I would be surprised if you could NOT get 500 out of 2400 points.

you can probably get a 1100 out of 2400.
it depends on how smart you are. if youre good at math you might be able to 1300 or higher.
