I choose to end my 32 year landline phone and I hoped it would say "this phone is no longer in service" but I finally went to the neighbors to see and it says "this number has been changed to a private number". That sounds like I got snooty and did that but I didn't. Do any of you phone people know if I can have it changed ? I can't call them :) and on T Mobile $100 for 1000 minutes prepaid, do all minutes count, incoming and out going because I was just going to have people call me back, but I bet all minutes count ????

It seems every time I buy a new cordless landline telephone that it becomes staticky after a short while. Have you found a cordless phone that works well for you? If so, which brand and model number is it?

Can someone create for me an answering machine message that is SO long and obnoxious that the person calling finally just hangs up?! I'm getting calls from someone I can't seem to get off my back and they keep asking me out on a date..I've already said NO! Please help. I need a message that's REALLY hard to understand (just think of something like...press pound for...leave message if dialing #2 in area ---.) Thanks!

On my caller id sometimes when the name and number is blocked it says "restricted" and other times it will say caller id "unavailble." What's the difference? Is there a way to unblock those calls? The only thing I can think of is maybe the restricted ones are calls made from a landline and the unavailble calls are blocked calls made from cell phones? Not sure, maybe someone can help me out with this one.

I signed up for Vonage last year...and I have been trying to call Vonage for 2 months now to cancel my services. I get asked a whole bunch of questions and then they ask me why I want to cancel my services..I told them that I no longer want the services..I also told them that I have been trying to cancel for 2 months and that I want reimbursted for the last 2 months from direct pay from my checking account. They said that they can NOT refund my 2 months reimburstment however...they can keep my services for 2 more months free...then disconnect...does anyone have a hard time trying to disconncet from vonage?

We recently had digital phone hooked up. We had cable for the computer and tv for years. I heard great things about digital phone, which, eh, it's ok. Clarity is not so great, even with a 5.8MH phone which is brand new.
That's not my problem though.
We have a security system for our home, and that was installed 12yrs ago and is hooked up to the telephone line.
Apparently when cable goes out for just a second, our alarm sounds. It happened last night at 2am.
One box (alarm system) is located in my son's closet which is locked and I do not have a key. I would assume that is where the hook up is for the telephone cable.
Second box is in my other son's room, which is the electrical supply.
The company that installed the system is no longer in business.
My question is:
How do I get into the metal 20" X 15" box to disconnect the telephone line and which line is it , and how to do this without interupting the normal functions of alarm. It is not monitored.
