They can never run out of numbers. They just have to add one numbers to the total (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9) to get nine times more numbers...or even 10 times more numbers if they use the 0.
It's like in France, people used to have 7 numbers like 555-55-55 and now they have 8 numbers 55-55-55-55.
One day they may have to need 9 numbers...

Did you ever tried to call your birth date, like if you were born in 1981, you would dial (1)981-XX-XX, the Xs being the month and the day of your birth? or (X)XXX-19-81?

In Washington State they expect by the year 2008 that all 3 number, 3 letter license plate combinations will be used up. Their solution is to switch to 7 digit combinations. I would assume that the phone numbers will work in the same fashion.

They may have to add a digit to the standard 10-digit one.
Since China has over 1 billion people, I don't think that would work. :)

add more numbers, like right now phone numbers are 10 digits long, they will make the 13 or something

they will keep making new exchanges like...

(412) <--area code
(333) <-- exchange
(4457)<--digits.

lets say a city has.... 5 exchanges... the population doubles... 10 exchanges. and on and on. eventually those will run out... but then theres always room for extra digits at the end.
