I have a cordless phone with its own charger base unit, bought about two years ago. The instuction handbook says to use NiCad batteries only, but all the shops locally only seem to sell NiMH of the appropriate size. Can I safely use the NiMH batteries in place of the NiCad ones?

I recall a number you can call or a website hosted the the government to where you can register to stop telemarket calls from coming in on a regular land line phone number. I cant remember where it was but can anyone give a address to it? Thanks
