I have tried two different digital ones (GE and V-Tech) and neither has as good a range as my old 900megahertz analog V-Tech that I paid 19.99 for 5 years ago. That one I could go way out to the farthest part of my backyard and talk. The ones I have tried recently, somewhat more expensive, I can barely leave my house without getting lots of static.

I was flipping through my phone book today. I came upon the section entitled: Telephone Safety.
I KID YOU NOT .
It said not to use your phone to report a gas leak. The phone is electrical (no crap) and contains tiny contacts that could generate a spark in the handset. Well that's funny. If my phone is so dangerous. WHY DOESN'T IT HAVE A WARNING LABEL?
But back to my question... If I can't use my phone to report a gas leak.. how can report a gas leak before I become overcome with fumes?

Okay. So I have Verizon for a home phone line, and I was wondering if anyone would know how to stop a certain phone number from calling mine without actually calling the phone company. Would anyone know such a number to call and how to restrict someone calling me?

There are international calls on my phone bill that were not made from my house but AT&T insists the calls were direct dialed. I, nor anyone from my house has never called any of these numbers in the 20+ years we have subscribed to AT&T long distance. They are now refusing to check the phone line and insist I pay over $600 in calls that were not made from our house. Any course of action recommended? I live in the state of California.

I have a Uniden TRU246 cordless phone that I've had for awhile. I replaced the battery about a month ago, and it was working fine until about an hour ago. The phone went dead, and when I placed it on the base unit to recharge, the base unit recharge light blinks instead of just staying on. Any ideas on the cause of the sudden problem. Of course, the "Troubleshooting" part of my users manual gives me no info. Thanks!

A friend of mine called me and I didn't make it to the phone - I thought he hung up before I could answer. But the phone actually picked up his call - he could hear me talking and my dog barking, even though I never pressed the speak button.
