I spoke to Vonage's customer service and they made me mad.

I have VoIP service from Packet8. I'm very happy with it - they offer several features that Vonage doesn't, and the monthly rate is lower - $19.99 per month for unlimited calls to the USA and to Canada. This includes Caller ID, Call Waiting, 3-way Calling, Voice Mail, Anonymous Call Block (sends callers who block their number from the Caller ID to Voicemail without ringing your phone), Do-Not-Disturb (sends all calls to voicemail without ringing your phone), and some other features at no extra cost.

I do not have Vonage but I do have my telephone service through my cable company. Its called VOiP or voice over Internet protocol. I have had the service for over 2 years and have not had any problems. My bill is a fraction of what it was. I don't pay all those ridiculous taxes and fees and I can only brag about the service and connections. If you had a bad incident with Vonage's customer service, I can only suggest to try again if you want them or look up voice over Internet on line and see if there are other providers in your area. Most cable company's that provide high-speed Internet will also provide phone service. Good luck.

If you weren't impressed with Vonage for VoIP there are quite a few providers in most areas that you could go through. I use AT&T's VoIP and I love it. The services are all relatively close in price (around $29 a month) but AT&T includes great service and a very nice Web interface to check messages... just a thought.

Yes, I do have Vonage and it is great majority of the time. However, it does have some issues. If you need Home Security (like ADT or Brinks), they do need a land line. I have two lines at my home because I have a contract with ADT. Otherwise it is great. Hope that helps.

Just got it and I like it so far. Great for unlimited calls, seeing who's called you and taking the modem with you (to use on another PC with DSL) if you travel. The only downside is the recording time you get seems short, about 1 minute - I would have thought you could record longer since it must be digital. All in all - a good deal.
