What do you say or do when prank callers or salespeople call your home?

I yell "woot woot!" and slam the phone down.

For salespeople, I say I'm on the "Do Not Call" list. I'm really not, and sometimes they call me on it. I just demand to speak to their supervisor or if I am in a good mood, I put on some Tony Bennett next to the phone for about twenty minutes.

And for prank callers, I give them my friend's number if they promise not to call me.

I work in a call-centre - the best one that I heard was a customer who, after hearing the spiel, suddenly said - "oh, that's my door. Give me a second while I answer it..." The call centre worker (no, not me) was left dangling on the line for about half-an-hour until they finally hung up on the customer.

Call centre workers are target driven, holding them waiting on a line costs the call-centre company money and time, for no pay-off. It won't stop them calling (there will be government sponsored listings you can join that stop call-centre companies dialling you - but, I don't really think they work). So be creative when these lovely people call

Ohh thats really annoying. Used to happen all the time. Whenever I have someone on the phone I don't want to talk to I don't hang up, just leave the phone off the hook and so even if the pranker hangs up, they cannot make another call. Unless you want to call someone else or if you're waiting on a call it works everytime and decreases the amount that it happens dramatically. Good Luck!

I usually wait for them to say something vaguely threatening, then stop them, saying that this is now in violation of Federal Law. Any further attempts to contact this number will result in prosecution to the fullest extent of the law." I go on like that for awhile, until they either go away or start whimpering. LOL.

i either go along with the prank , as it makes the pranksters joke less funny which devastates them

or i prank them bk by shouting and saying im guna ring the police n stuff if they ring bk, they really get scardd and put the phone down :P can be quite funny :).

im just a teen but i act like im the parent when a sales person calls and i make them really aggravated then they hang up!

thank god for your maturity. i just hang up, or ask for their number so i can give them a call later.
