I want to get myself a digital camera, but I'm worried about shopping so close to Christmas. I don't want to spend a lot, but I do want a decent one. I know, I'm asking for a lot. I would like at least a 5.0 pixel, an Olympus or a Sony. Should I wait until after the rush? Will they be on sale then? They're mostly full price or slightly less wherever I go now. Does anyone know if they have end-of-year sales? Thanks! :-)

I think there is sand in the buttons - the "ok" button is jammed and this prevents me from changing any of the options in the menu. Aside from taking to a pro-shop, is there anything I can do to fix this?

It's a HP Photosmart E317. I took about 40 pics and they all show up on the camera when in playback mode, but when I hook up to the computer to download them, they aren't there. Several older pictures that where taken weeks ago are still on there and they show up on the computer, but the new ones don't. Any ideas on how to retrieve them? Thanks.

I am really interested in photography and want to take it up as a hobby. I dont need a top of the range camera, but i am willing to spend money for something of good quality. My maximum would be $1000 - $2000. Can anyone suggest something? Thanks!

I am interested in getting image stablization. I am interested in being able to read a distance scale. I am interested in having a zoom lens. I am not crazy about fixed focus lenses or aperatures. I don't want to go too much over $500.00. I don't trust used lenes. Please give me your sugestions.

I'm looking for a great digital camera that isn't outrageously priced and one that is user friendly. I am also looking for one with a good zoom feature. Any ideas would be extremely helpful. Thank you.

Any opinion regarding the difference, or which filter is better between Hoya or Tiffen? I have a Nikon D40X with a Nikkor 18-200mm VR lens. I need a polarizing filter and a UV filter.
I have used Tiffen filters with other lenses, but have not used a Hoya filter. Any suggestions?

how can we assess the quality of a digital camera?
i'm confused with the megapixel and optical zoom specifications.........
for example......camera1 has 8MP and 12x optical zoom and camera2 has 12MP and 6x optical zoom........now how do we decide on the quality and which one to buy?

I am looking to buy a digital camera for the first time. I am only an occasional photographer so i don't need anything fancy. I am looking for a decent camera for under $300CAD but I don't even know what sort of questions to ask at the store. Can you either recommend a camera or give me some guidelines in what I should be looking for. I don't want to be fleeced by some salesman who sees an easy mark. Thanks

ok, on ebay D80 is around $1360 including postage. While at local store the cheapest price is around $1620, and I tried to negotiate the price but since it is the cheapest price from authorised seller, there is no way I can make them lower their price, and it is from this website www.camera-warehouse.com.au , it has its own store.
Ok so should I buy from ebay or from this shop? Im in a dilemma because this 360 bucks difference means alot !

I am wanting to try my hand at Professional Photography and would like to buy a good but not too expensive ( just in case it dont work out too well) digital camera for about $400-600. Don't really know that much about all of the inner workings of cameras, I've been told that my photo ideas are great, just need a better camera. The more of a "point and shoot" camera would be great for me until I learn more about what I'm doing.

Detailed camera names and models would greatly be appreciated so I would be able to compare between them.

Thanks ahead.

I have been comparing the Nikon D40 to the Samsung Digimax i5. I have been told that the Nikon D40 is better. Could someone please send me a comparison between the two of them, and give me your opinion of which of the two I should get.

Thanks!
