I think there is sand in the buttons - the "ok" button is jammed and this prevents me from changing any of the options in the menu. Aside from taking to a pro-shop, is there anything I can do to fix this?

First, go through rigorous training provided by the company that makes the camera. Next, get some specialized tools and a clean room, and have at it.

Of course, sending it to get cleaned/repaired would probably take a lot less time and cost a lot less money.

If I were you I'd take it to the shop if you take it apart and lose something or break something the camera will be useless to you. It may be that you pay a lot for it but if you take it apart then you are going to have to buy a new camera. I think I would rather have it fixed at a shop.

If you aren't familiar with the workings of the camera. Your best bet is to take it to a repair shop.

You'll have to take it to a shop, unless you want to risk totally ruining it with some kind of air blower...

You can't. An authorized service center can - at your expense since no warranty covers abuse.
