I'm going to buy it when I save up enough money, I found it on amazon.com for about $300.00. Is it a good camera?

I want to take pictures like this:

p.s. the guy that took that picture, has the canon powershot, only the S2 version, not the S3.

think I'm capable of taking pics like that? haha :D

I prefer taking candid shots, so I think a longer lens will help me so that I can be further away and people don't auto-react to the lens (also, I have some opportunities to shoot some nature photos). I do have some financial limits - I'm hoping I can get something for $200 or less. Anyone have any ideas of some lenses I can get in this price range for what I want? Please give details on what you like - why you like it, what you don't like about it - what to avoid, what to look for. Please just don't give a one-line answer. I want some detail on what would work for me. Thanks!

So basicly I want to get into photography, and I have a few questions

First, I need a good camera, but one that's also below 350 USD.

Second, what is the difference between an SLR camera and a DSLR and which one do I want? I keep hearing both terms, but don't know what either of them mean.

And third, what's a good/reliable online dealer or a store where can I get said camera?

Thanks in advance

Looking to buy camera over internet. 1500 - 2000$ budget.
Looking to go into film school eventually to end up a free lance cinematographer. I plan to build a portfolio of short wildlife films to present in order to have some of my school paid for.
I need to know what would be a good buy for filming out doors, and something that I could get close clear images of animals that may be a ways off / sound quality / interesting features
Also, I will need to edit myself so editing program?? And a camera that goes straight to my computer??
Thank you

Is there a good digital camera, one that takes a lot of pictures,?

You know, because most cameras you have to wait about 10 seconds to take additional pics, and I want one that takes pictured quickly,

but it has to be cheap

My camera has 3 aspect ratios to pick from (4:3, 3:2, 16:9)... I don't know which ratio I should use as a "default" for my pictures. I took the exact same picture with each ratio and the only thing I noticed was the top and bottom got more and more chopped off as I went from 4:3 to 16:9.

I thought that as I went from 4:3 to 16:9 that I would loose vertical viewing, but gain more horizontal....was I wrong for assuming this? Which ratio should be used for which scenario? I originally liked the 16x9 because my laptop has a 1280x760 (wide screen) resolution so it would fit nice as wallpaper without being stretched or big vertical bars on either side.

I also plan to sometimes print 4x6 or 8x10 pictures periodically if they come out nice.

Thanks!

When I take a picture with my Sony, the pictures come out with white lines (horizontal) across the picture/screen. When I go into "view pictures" on the camera, it puts yet another layer of white (this time not lines, just white) across the screen.

I've had it take a few really good pictures in the correct lighting, but it has never done this before... no matter what the lighting conditions were.
