I know the Nikon D80 is easier to use than the Canon Rebel XTi but why does the Canon take better pictures? Also, I asked the salesman about the Canon and how people say its better than Nikon for sports photography or fast motion and he said it wasn't true. Is it? what does the Canon have that the Nikon doesn't and vice versa, what does the Nikon have that the Canon doesn't. Keep in mind when I say Nikon I am talking about the D80 and when I say Canon, I mean Rebel XTi.

What is the best aperture for group portraits? I am using a canon Digital Rebel XT with , and sometimes seem to have problems with Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II lens. When I go wide open, I sometimes have problems with focus. I think this may be due to narrow depth of field when triying to get many faces, even if they are close to the same plane. Is something more like 2.8 reccomended?

I already have a Kodak 3.1 MP and 4x optical zoom. I am sending this to my husband while deployed. My big chance to move up. I like this easy share but some of my issues of this camera is lag time and picture clarity on the zoom feature. I don't want an SLR and my budget is 300 and under. I take a lot of pictures indoors so red eye and quality indoor pictures are important. If you have ideas on the zoom that would help for recitals, etc.
Thanks for the help!!

What is the main cause of shutter lag in cheap digital cameras?

1. Auto-focus?

2. Writing to memory?

3. Something else I'm missing?

If it's auto-focus, why not have a fixed focus setting? Most cameras only need to be focused when things are less than 3 feet away anyway.

I've tried my camera with faster memory and it had no effect on shutter lag but, if it is the speed at which it writes, why not have internal flash-RAID 0 memory. Just enough to hold maybe 4 pictures. Then, while you're taking pictures 2, 3, and, 4, it can be slowly writing picture 1 to the removable memory.

Just a thought.

I have canon powershot A300, was working fine. But then the display (on shooting mode) started to become hazed by moving transverse white lines which used to disappear after holding for few seconds. After that, the white lines persisted longer & the photos took at this time has those lines & haze, even if I disable the display while shooting.
Now, the shooting display is totally black, with the moving lines, and so are the photos..
What could be the problem?

I just wanted to know the magnification of the the FM10's viewfinder. Like, how big is the image you see when you put your eye in the viewfinder to focus?

Is it as big as the old Nikon F and F2?

I recorded my video with a tape instead of the memory card. I installed the program that came with the video camera. I plugged the USB cable into the computer, but nothing happened. The computer didn't detect the USB. I want to edit my video with Windows Movie Maker. Can I do this with a tape?

I have a 64mb xD-picture card for my Fujifilm Finepix A400 camera. Lately it's given me "card full" errors, but if I delete multiple pictures, I can only take one more before I get the error again. I just plugged it into my computer and it says there's only 55mb available on the card .. why is my card shrinking? =(
