Hello Band,

Never trust a camera salesman, they're almost as bad as used car salemen.

In my humble opinion Canon cameras have the best balance of technology, features, image quality and price.

But the Panasonic's are not too shabby. Normally companies that manufacture generic electronics should be avoided when buying a camera, but Panasonic's joint venture (dunno if it's actually one) with Leica has really produced some nice cameras. Leica even rebadges some of them and sells them as their own.

In compact cameras I wouldn't disregard Fuji either, their digital cameras have also done really well.

But if I were in your shoes I would go with my original choice and get the Canon.

Take care!

Ignacio

When most people think cameras, they think Canon or Nikon.True for print, but they are really not the best when it comes to digital cameras.Panasonic Lumix is one of the top digital camera lines out there. Try not to think of Panasonic as in their consumer electronics, because it is a whole different thing with cameras. They are the only ones that use the Leica lens, a glass lens that provides far superior optics than a plastic lens, which is what most digital cameras have.
