i want to buy camera Cyber-shot® Digital CameraDSC-H9/B with 15x optical zoom and 76x smart zoom feature.what the diffreneces between the two zoom and is it good to buy or not?

it is an excellent buy. the difference betwen the two is this the optical zoom is what your eyes actually sees and that it what you want in a camera the smart zoom is no more than the optical and that is the camera version of what you see. it digitizes the picture and it can come out fuzzy and god knows what. get a camera that is at least 3mp or higher with at least 4xoptical . good choice on the camera. hope that helps.

Optical Zoom has to do with the actual focus of the lens on the camera. The lens will actually zoom out for you and take a true picture with that magnified focus. The smart-zoom has to do with the camera digitally selecting an area of the view-field, and blowing it up to large scale. Kind of like when you view a picture on your computer and you zoom in on it. Beyond that, That is a very good camera with a lot of very easy to handle controls. Very durable too.

optical zoom is the natural zoom that u get by adjusting your cam lenses. where as smart zoom will be ur software zoom. it does nothing but enlarges the part of picture as u do in PC. 15 optical zoom is quit good and u r cam is sony so dont worry !!! jus go ahead and buy it. trust me sony never gives u any problems. i have used sony for past 4 years or so without even a single prob!!

great camera with plenty of manual control .... carl zeiss lens...good name in glass manufacturing ... i think it's a great camera for every day using .... when u search for a camera don't pay attention to the digital zoom .... it's only the optical zoom that brings u a sharp fine detailed image every where along ur zoom ...the digital zoom is the same as u crop ur image via any computer software ......good luck

what it is got it has 15 zoom through the lens and 76 total when you add the digital zoom to the lens zoom! for the zoom, yes this is a very good camera to buy!!!

if you have the money
it is an excellent camera
the optical zoom is the better one
